A story in The Times is a reminder that when enjoying the outdoors, and especially in the Uplands, particular care needs to be taken not to disturb ground-nesting birds at this time of year.
The uplands represent a significant nesting area for many endangered British birds, the Curlew among them.
Some basic common sense will help protect these birds nesting and at their most vulnerable.
Keep to paths, keep dogs on a lead, and remember to shut gates and respect the countryside. Always follow the country code, wherever you are.
